Halloween Poems FOR 6-10 YEAR OLDS
OCTOBER 31ST

It creeps like a
cat about to catch prey
It moves like the dark
consuming the day.
It breathes like a shadow
walking behind.
It howls like a Werewolf
thought in the mind.
It lurks like a Zombie
noise in the mist.
It welcomes all spirits
trapped in abyss.

DON'T TRICK OR TREAT A LION

Don't 'Trick or Treat' a lion,
as when it's at the door,
it won't give you some candy,
but give a giant 'RRRROARRRRR!!

PLUMMETING PUMPKINS

Mummified monsters make for the minds
of terrified teachers teaching the times
tables in silence, sweating in suits,
splatting so softly the seven spiteful spooks.
Whimsical witches whistle and wail,
hiding Headmaster’s in Halibut hail.
Plummeting pumpkins punish the plains,
as zig-zagging zombies zearch for zome brains.
Cackling cauldron’s chatter and cheer,
awaiting their appetite answers appear.
Damned Dinner-ladies turn into ducks,
so the school staff surrender and shout out ‘School sucks!’
With a krying kapow, and a moggie’s miaow,
The curse from the children had lifted for now.
THE ORANGE LANTERN SKY

The orange lantern sky
lit skeleton's skulls
escaping from their graves.

The shrieks of delight
from candy filled children
muffled the sounds of
witches and Zombies.

Ghosts and ghouls
blended in with
parents draped in
bedsheets
attending fancy dress
parties.

The chemical smelling
Frankenstein mask
that hid my face,
disguised the fear
I held inside.

THE PUMPKIN INVASION

They escape from fields en masse.
Even skeletons scarper.
Witches warn of doom!
